A Sims Recycling Solutions’ Eco Week held in Pune recently is thought to be the first event of its type ever to be staged in India.

The event was held in partnership with the Cognizant Foundation Fund – an organisation which campaigns on environmental, poverty and illiteracy issues in India – and was organized by Sims Recycling Solutions’ Sanjay Saxena and Kumar Radhakrishnan.
Collection bins were provided at Cognizant’s premises so that employees could bring along their WEEE for recycling.
G M Rao, Director of Business Services at Cognizant said "Although not a vast amount of WEEE was collected it was a fantastic way of raising awareness for around 8,000 employees in Pune on the importance of WEEE recycling. We are very pleased to be the first company to be working with Sims Recycling Solutions and would like to extend this to our other locations at Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata and Delhi.”
Sims Recycling Solutions now has three operations in India in Chennai, Pune and Delhi. The Pune and Delihi facilities are collection hubs which transport material to our site in Chennai. Cognizant has over 30,000 employees in India.
