Sims Recycling Solutions, which trades as Trishyiraya Recycling Pvt Ltd in India, has achieved certification to the international quality, environmental and health and safety standards ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and BS OHSAS 18001 at its e-waste recycling facility in Chennai. The company has been developing best practice at its global sites since 2004 and the Chennai certifications are another step forward in the company’s policy of replicating and standardising best practice throughout its worldwide operations.
Sanjay Saxena, Vice President of Operations at Sims Recycling Solutions in India, commented: “Because we have been certified by the world’s premier verification body, it means that our standards are the same global standards to which we operate anywhere in the world. We believe that this commitment to health, safety and environmental excellence provides the highest quality service to our customer base in India and makes us the market leader in e-waste recycling in Asia.
“We are particularly delighted that it took our staff only ten months to put in place the processes and procedures necessary to ensure that our operational excellence and quality services are the best we can possibly offer. Remarkably, the three certifications were all achieved on the same day which is a first within Sims Recycling Solutions.”
Sims Recycling Solutions operates two other electronics waste recycling sites in India at Pune and Delhi and the company is planning to bring these sites up to the same standards in the near future.
Mr Saxena concluded: “Our aim is to standardise certification to international standards at all our sites in India. In so doing, we will be making a significant contribution to India’s fledgling e-waste recycling infrastructure by setting the very best global standards. This can only be a good thing for the Indian e-waste recycling industry and I would like to thank all our employees for their efforts in making this tremendous achievement possible.”
