Receipt and registration of your technology assets

A Sims Recycling Solutions employee registering and monitoring computer assets

Sims Recycling Solutions has made a significant investment in an asset tracking system known as Asset Manager.  It provides clients with peace of mind through information and control.  Asset Manager will track products from the moment it leaves your premises, right through to sale.

Sims Recycling Solutions will receipt all stock into the Asset Manager tracking system.  It captures:

  • Asset serial number
  • Product classification (e.g. monitor, CPU, laptop)
  • Model number
  • Brand
  • Freight company details (including driver name)
  • Finance asset number or company asset number

Once these details are captured, individual barcode labels will be generated to manage each asset through the asset process, up to and including the ultimate redeployment, dismantling or resale.

Recovered technology assets are then tested and inspected with the following details captured and entered into Asset Manager. All assets are tested on receipt unless they are obviously of no value.

Sims Recycling Solutions employee testing electronic equipment
  • Asset processor speed
  • Ram Size
  • H/D size
  • Floppy size
  • Screen type
  • DVD/CD size
  • Fault description (if any)
  • Estimated cost of repairs (if required)

We check that all assets have all of the peripherals they are supposed to be returned with, such as cables, keyboards, mice, power supplies and carry bags.

Secure data destruction technologies are employed to remove all data to:

  • Protect customer and employee privacy
  • Prevent identity theft
  • Protect company information and shareholders by safeguarding proprietors trade information

A comprehensive customer report is then generated. Each asset that is not in Grade A condition will be allocated a diminished value depending on the type of fault or extent of missing or damaged components.
